Honorable Mayor O’Leary, incoming, outgoing and continuing City Councilmembers. Congratulations and thanks to you all…
To recognize the election of our City Council, the upcoming Car Show, the end of National Poetry Month, and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, here, for your enjoyment, is a sonnet to mark all four occasions, in iambic pentameter following the Bard of Avon’s guidelines….

Oh City Council members with minds so bright
With visions to enhance fair Culver City
Keep us out of the dark and help us see the light
With actions that show your industrious productivity
Like vehicles that speed our trip to a distant spot
While looking for means to get the extra mile
You work to determine what’s right and what is not
And yet while working hard, you do it with style
We here in Culver City are very fortunate
To have citizens like you working hard for us
We look forward to lots of events that will be great
To walk to, to bike to or drive to without any fuss…
So we thank you City Council for working so hard
And for this sonnet framework, we can thank the Bard…!
