New American Theatre artistic director Jack Stehlin stars as Prospero in “Tempest Redux,” a derivation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, which opens a seven-week run on Saturday, Feb, 20 at the Odyssey Theatre, 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles.

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble and the New American Theatre celebrate El Niño with a perfect storm of comedy, romance, mystery and magic, featuring not only Mr. Stehlin but his wife, Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin as co-producer. The Stehlins are long-term Culver City residents, and Ms. Wisnosky Stehlin carries a high profile in the School District.

In 1983, Mr. Stehlin founded Circus Theatricals, and five years ago the company changed its name to The New American Theatre.  With his wife-partner, Ms. Wisnosky Stehlin, Mr. Stehlin has produced more than 80 plays in Los Angeles and New York.

An award-winning actor/director, he is perhaps best known on television as DEA captain Roy Till on the popular Showtime series Weeds, for which he was nominated for a SAG award. He has had numerous guest-starring roles on television fan favorites such as NCIS Los Angeles, NCIS, The Event Dark Blue, Without a Trace, Monk, JAG, The Practice, ER, NYPD Blue as well as the recent Fox program Hieroglyph.

Recent films include Chicago 8 and Wilde Salome, starring and directed by Al Pacino.

Mr. Stehlin has extensive Los Angeles, New York, regional and worldwide stage credits, including nine productions at New York’s Public Theatre, Salome (Los Angeles, with Al Pacino), and Titus Redux at the Kirk Douglas Theatre (co-production with Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble.) He was nominated for the LA Weekly 2014 Theatre Awards for Best Leading Actor for the New American Theatre/Odyssey Theatre co-production of Creditors.

Mr. Stehlin is an alumnus of John Houseman’s The Acting Company and a graduate of the Juilliard School.

Tempest Redux stars Mecca Vazie Andrews, Mimi Davila, Dennis Gersten, Gildart Jackson, Willem Long, Lilian Manansala, Hunter Paul, Dash Pepin, Jack Stehlin and Emily Yetter.
