The Patriots won!

No, no, no …. not the New England Patriots that got shellacked on Sunday by the Miami Dolphins and had their winning streak snapped, but the Real Patriots, the ones who started the Veterans Revolution and achieved another Sunday Rally victory in West Los Angeles.

It takes a special breed of loyalty and dedication not to stay home and watch Sunday’s NFL games, but instead drive a long distance to put up a strong defense to protect and preserve the Los Angeles National Veterans Home.

It’s laughable how the Democrats are trying to downplay Gov. Palin this afternoon for getting her start as mayor in a small town with only 7,000 residents in detached Alaska.

Well, that’s just 2,000 fewer than the total primary votes that 36-year D.C. insider Joe Biden got all across America.

Today we honor the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and his “I Have a Dream” speech that challenged our nation to live up to its creed that all men are created equal.

No doubt everyone has been following the sequence of events regarding Russia’s recent invasion and occupation of certain parts of sovereign Georgia.

On May 9, 1901, President William McKinley visited America’s military Veterans at the National Soldiers Home in Los Angeles (as shown in the photograph below).
As we know, Presidents over the past few decades have used this hallowed ground for landing their Presidential helicopter, then jumping into a big limousine and heading off to a nearby mansion of one of their fat-cat donors for a private political fundraiser. Tragically, they never had time to visit with America’s Veterans, as President McKinley did.

A U.S. Presidential Candidate will attend this Sunday's weekly raly to save the National Veterans Home.

After years of battling the politicians and the Veterans Administration over special interest land grabbing, Veterans recently made significant progress through the support of the California American Legion when delegates unanimously approved their resolution to “not endorse the establishment of a public park and not endorse any use of the property at the Veterans Home Land, which is for the sole purpose of providing Veterans a place to heal from war.”

Our hard work to stop the Veterans Park Conservancy’s attempt to build a public park on Veterans property is now beginning to pay off.

In the accompanying photo, Veteran Dick Breithaupt, a “Son of the Revolution,” who served in both the U.S. Marine Corps. and U.S. Army during the Korean War era, and Gil Flores, a Vietnam War Veteran who made a career serving in the U.S. Air Force, hold the American flag upside down to send out a distress call.

Rees Lloyd, a prominent civil rights attorney, took prompt action last Friday on behalf of Veteran residents at the Los Angeles National Veterans Home and restored their Constitutional right to assemble and protest against the proposed “public park” on Veterans property in West L.A.

Mr. Lloyd was contacted by the group “We the Veterans” regarding the rights of Veterans receiving residential treatment in the New Directions program to exercise their First Amendment rights of expression, assembly, and/or to petition for redress and to participate in demonstrations being held on Sundays.

Yesterday, we held our eighth Sunday Rally to “Save Our Veterans Land” at the Los Angeles National Veteran’s Home.

Francisco Juarez’s raising the long string of American flags across the front of the fence was very patriotic, symbolic and inspiring.
