In 12 days, as usual, the city of Culver City will stage a remembrance ceremony to honor the men, women, children and first- responders who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City by Islamic terrorists.

With the once-startling events of Sept. 11 naturally fading into grayness because 15 years have passed, the desire or fear of forgetting gains some unneeded help this year.

The typically small crowds probably will be skinnier than usual in 12 days because Sept. 11 falls in Sunday.

Factor in the sleepy-eyed starting time – 6:55 a.m., the hour at which the Muslim terrorists struck – and a logical conclusion is first-responders may be remembering alone.

The Fire and Police departments will host memorial services at each of the three city fire stations on Sunday, Sept. 11.

“Members of the public cordially are invited to attend,” said the announcement from City Hall. Cordially is likely to finish second to sleep since it is a Sunday.

Fire Station 1 is at 9600 Culver Blvd.

Fire Station is at 11252 Washington Blvd.

Fire Station 3 is at 6030 Bristol Parkway.

Ceremony schedule:

6:55 a.m. — Crews assemble in front of flag.
6:59 — Time of the South Tower collapse.
7 o’clock — One minute of complete silence.
7:01 — Flag lowered to half-staff.
7:03 — Ceremony concluded.
