Capo Now Official as Sister City

After months of anxious anticipation, Capo d’Orlando officially has become Culver City’s newest Sister City.

The City Council approved the resolution to establish the Sister City relationship with Capo d’Orlando, Messina, Sicily, Italy, at its Monday meeting.

The unanimous verdict marked the culmination of an historic event 12 years in the making.

The Culver City Sister City Committee will embark on this project that builds bridges through friendship and cultural understanding, making us all better citizens of the world.

Next steps include the drafting of a Joint Declaration between the two cities, prepared by the Culver City Sister City Committee.

It currently being reviewed by Capo d’Orlando’s mayor.

The Joint Agreement will be signed in September by Mayor Jeff Cooper during the Culver City Centennial closing ceremonies.

An official delegation will be invited to visit Culver City in September for the closing ceremonies and signing of the historic document between the two cities.

Sister City President Nancy Perdomo-Browning thanked her board  members “for the hard work and dedication that have allowed us to be where we are in this process.

“We are making history for Culver City and the Culver City Sister Committee,” she said.
