Is It ‘Crazy Spending’ by the School Board?

In the accompanying spreadsheets, the School District’s own numbers show that the School Board received $19.5M more than expected in additional unrestricted Local Control Funding Formula (state funding in the last six years.

How did they spend it?

Board members raised the compensation for School District employees more than $19M.

The School Board also decided to deficit spend almost $14M over the same six-year time frame.

Now that they have spent all this money on their four-year District spending spree, School Board members want the local taxpayers to give them millions more of our hard-earned money.

Regarding a parcel tax, the tax amount per parcel being bantered about by the District is $118.

Wow!

They either have to be kidding or they really think they can sell our community into giving them $10M more with an ad slogan “… because it’s less than $10 a month.”

To quote my neighbor who has real doubts about the need and timing of the School Board’s parcel tax:

“Crazy spending does not warrant more money.”
