Dixie. Dixie. Dixie. Boo. Boo. Boo. Really?

With Obama out of the White House, here is indisputable evidence G-d has provided a fresh batch of angry, insecure, racist, lightweight leftists to alternately horrify and amuse normal Americans.

During a solo concert performance Wednesday evening in Evanston, pianist Jacqueline Schwab invited her audience to have “a contemplative moment with ‘Dixie.’ ”

That’s a tough one.

“Dixie” is the most problematic song in the American standard repertoire — a gorgeous melody with ugly associations, a march so defiled by history that not even Abraham Lincoln’s blessing can redeem it.

“I’ve always thought ‘Dixie’ one of the best tunes I have ever heard,” Lincoln said at the end of the Civil War when asking a band to play it for him. “Our adversaries over the way attempted to appropriate it, but I insisted yesterday that we fairly captured it.”

He later declared “that tune is now federal property.”

The desperate Eric Zorn of the Chicago Tribune, a professional essayist and raw amateur thinker, penned those words.

The bad news is, he is serious.

Dancing to the tune of his political puppeteers, Zorny apparently believes if history offends left-wing sensitivities, the curriculum should be rewritten.

Oops. I just noticed. It has.
