Was Firing Arnold Fiscally Wise?

Dr. Josh Arnold’s contract with the School District is attached below.

Note: On page 5, the letter M seems to be the section of his contract evoked by the School Board for its dismissal of Dr. Arnold.

At the very end of the June 13 School Board meeting minutes, it shows that the Board did come back and reconvened in Open Session and announced that the Board had taken reportable action concerning Josh Arnold’s contract, that it had been terminated without cause, effective immediately.

So it looks as if there was no Brown Act violation. But that’s just my two-cents.

By terminating his contract without cause, with a unanimous vote of five ayes, this now makes the District pay him for at least 12 months of his remaining time on his 3-year contract or a minimum of $210,000.

This, while we have been running deficits for the past two years and will continue to run ongoing deficits for the next three years according to the District’s own multi-year projections.

The District projects next year’s deficit to be $4.75M. So what is $210,000 in comparison?

Well, $210,000 is not peanuts. So what did our Super do that was so terrible, so awful, so treasonous, that our School Board members decided in about an hour that his contract needed to be terminated immediately?

Did someone out him to the Board as an Orange County Republican?
