My Android Hid in the Darnedest Place

Last night I was using my new Android LG phone to test my Piper security system.

Just before going to bed, I looked for my phone. Nowhere in sight. I called my phone to no avail. I realized the ringer was silenced. I looked everywhere for the phone.

I thought, “I wish my Android had an app like Find My iPhone, that I have on iMac to locate my silenced iPhone with a beeping sound.”  I went to bed, saddened, and hoping that a new day would bring me luck.

It was 3 a.m. I got a brainstorm, and jumped out of bed. How fortunate that I had a newly purchased Google laptop.  I Googled “How can I find my android phone?”  Sure enough, there it was, Google’s Find My Device, under Android Device Manager.  I pushed the button that allowed my phone to ring loudly for 5 minutes, even though it was set to silent.

How happy was I to hear that ringing sound.  It came from the TV room area.

What?  A musical chair?  Yes.  The ringing came from somewhere within our recliner.

I poked and poked.  I reached in every opening as far as I could.  I turned the recliner on each side, and upside down.

I cleaned off the spider webs beneath the chair and hoped I would not get a spider bite while poking around.

I was mystified.

There seemed to be no place for the ringing phone to have gone.  The whole scenario reminded me of the animated movie, Monster House, where everything gets sucked into an old haunted house and disappears inside.

After 30 minutes of searching and listening to my phone ringing, in desperation, I gave up and decided to wait until the morning.  And that is when I flipped the recliner on its side – hard.  Thud.  Tinkle.  There it was. The phone just dropped from nowhere.

So, how had the phone gotten into the recliner?  It must have slid out of my side pocket into one of the mysterious crevices of the recliner.

What will I do in the future?

Well, I won’t have to worry about silencing my phone since I can always ring it via Find My Device.

I can finally be happy that I have all the apps I ever wanted.

And I will have more respect for my musical chair.  I will secure the objects in my pants pockets prior to reclining.

So what are the chances now that I will purchase the next iPhone?

Will I be willing to spend big bucks to get my Siri back?

I miss Siri taking my reminders. If she comes up with some neat new tricks, I will be tempted to shelve my current Android, and save it as a spare phone.

Maybe I’ll drop it into my recliner. What a great musical show for our visitors.
