First-year Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks has been on the griddle in Inglewood for most of the summer. She has been criticized for her lack of visibility and for her persistent refusal to comment on any aspect of an investigation, of discipline or of crime-scene circumstances.

Test Scores Rise for Most of Culver City's Schools.

The State Superintendent of Public Instruction has released the Academic Performance Index (API) growth reports for the School District and, incidentally, for 6,400 California public schools.

Results show that all but two Culver City schools have reached the statewide performance target of 800. Several schools had enormous jumps in their scores.

Burke’s Office Memo to Residents: Don’t Get Hopes up for a Vote Delay

One week before the County Regional Planning Commission is to decide whether to delay its recommendation vote on drilling in Baldwin Hills, the chief deputy for County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke told the newspaper this morning postponement is “unlikely.”

Responding to a community environment that is fraught with skepticism over gaining additional time to study complicated drilling documents, Mike Bohlke said that since it is likely the oil company will seek to resume drilling late next month, regulations need to be in place.
