Difference in O’Leary’s Approach

temp63Letters

I have known City Council candidate Mehaul O’Leary for years.  His good nature and sense of humor are contagious. His honesty, sincerity and integrity are refreshing and even inspirational.  But that is old news to those who know him.  I am moved to write because, during last Tuesday’s candidate’s forum at El Marino School, I saw first-hand how these traits make Mehaul the breath of fresh air that Culver City sorely needs.
After the candidates fielded questions from the audience, moderator Chip Netzel surprised everyone by telling the candidates that they would be asking each other questions.  The candidates were caught off-guard.

Two Reasons to Vote Malsin

temp89Letters

I’m supporting Scott Malsin for City Council on April 11 because he possesses two important qualifications: Character and experience.

In my sixteen years as a member of the City Council, I found that character builds trust with other Council members and residents.  Scott will bring a civility, courtesy and professionalism to the Council that has been noticeably lacking for too long. While our elected officials may disagree upon how to achieve the best for our city, it’s important that differences of opinion be respected.

A Vote for Independence

temp82Letters

Mehaul O’Leary is an independent candidate in more ways than one for the City Council in the April 11 election.  He has a refreshing, new approach to resolving the many issues facing the City Council these coming years.  He has no political agenda beyond being elected.  He owes no political favors and will not be influenced by the local movers and shakers.
Mehaul has run a clean campaign, with no inference or innuendo toward his fellow candidates. He has surprised many people with his incisive solutions to traffic, budget and neighborhood problems.  I’ll be voting for Mehaul O’Leary on Election Day, and I hope you’ll join me.  Isn’t it time we had an independent thinker on the City Council?

Why Malsin Is Right for City

temp23Letters

I am pleased to support Scott Malsin for the City Council.  Scott is especially well qualified to lead Culver City. He has been a resident for fourteen years.  During that time he has been involved in a variety of ways.  He has gained knowledge of the city and its citizens.  He has a vision that will serve Culver City today and lay the groundwork for moving ahead in the decades to come.
The city must continue to evolve, to adjust to changes in our world and our residents.  He understands this, and he has the intelligence and courage to make the hard decisions to address these challenges.

Malsin’s Good Impression

temp72Letters

Last Thursday night, March 2, I attended a City Council Candidates Forum in my neighborhood, Lindberg Park.
It was an informative event where the candidates presented their views and answered questions on a wide range of city issues. Though all three candidates clearly care about Culver City, I was most impressed with Scott Malsin.
As a long-term resident with substantial community involvement, including five years’ experience on the Planning Commission, Scott is familiar with critical issues in Culver City.
He has demonstrated a knack for finding effective solutions to numerous problems. In response to questions fielded at the forum, Scott provided clear and practical answers that show his full understanding of the issues.

Good News for O’Leary

temp37Letters

Having had the honor of serving you for sixteen years on your City Council, I know quite a bit about what it takes to be a good servant of the people.
My personal experience goes back to 1972 when I was first elected.  Over time, with patience, we have made Culver City a better place to live.
We are now about to fill two seats on City Council.  I am recommending Mehaul O’Leary for one of your votes on April 11,  for the following reasons:
As a businessman, Mehaul knows the importance of good planning and balancing a budget. He will be good steward of our city finances.  He will listen, really listen, to your concerns.  He will work hard to make Culver City even a better place by preserving and improving our quality of life.  He will show you respect.

A Toast for Malsin

temp87Letters

I had the pleasure of attending the fundraising dinner for City Council candidate Scott Malsin last Saturday night at the 10950 Studios soundstage on Washington Boulevard.
Not only was it a really enjoyable event, the people I met and socialized with really encapsulated for me the reason I am supporting Malsin for City Council. There were people from every walk of life, every profession, every political persuasion, every age group and most especially every neighborhood of Culver City.

The Malsin Work Ethic

temp69Letters

I want to encourage everyone to vote for Scott Malsin for City Council.

Many people know Scott because of his service on the Planning Commission, as a member of CERT or because he’s vice president of the Ballona Creek Renaissance.
I live in his neighborhood, and I want to let you know what a
hard worker he is every step of the way. He is always there when
there’s hard work to be done.

Malsin as Fiesta Leader

temp110Letters

I want to encourage everyone to vote for Scott Malsin for City Council on April 11. I had the opportunity to work with him on the Fiesta La Ballona Committee, which he co-chaired in 2003. My husband David and I were the chairpeople in 2004, and he was always there to help us when we needed him. Scott met with us regularly to share his knowledge and experience.
Running the Fiesta is a big job. Scott has great organizational skills. He is very creative and imaginative. His leadership has made a tremendous difference in this great city tradition. He was very successful at raising funds from local businesses to help make the Fiesta the best it can be and in using the Fiesta to showcase the range of activities our city offers.

David and I are proud to support Scott’s candidacy. His service on the Planning Commission and his knowledge of the city, its traditions and its character are great preparation for service on the City Council. He’s truly got what it takes to lead Culver City.
