Re: “Azran’s Destiny – To Be a Lawyer or a Cop?”

Even though most nice Jewish boys don’t grow up to wear police uniforms, Allen Azran was a happy exception.

Even those his two siblings were lawyers and he was trained/expected to be No. 3 in the family, the recently retired acting police chief stayed focused on his lifelong plan – to be a cop.

Twentyish and living at home with his parents in the Valley, the now 50-year-old Mr. Azran talked about how his parents backed him.

“My mom would cook for me, help me get prepared because there was a very strict regimen. I would get home, I would do my homework, I would get my uniforms ready for the next day, I would have very little time to do anything other than study and eat.

“There was a definite support there in my family. I would have to say, 29 years later, my parents are very proud and very supportive of me.”

Mr. Azran, you may have gathered through the earlier installments in this series, does not talk like your traditional cop.

“I have always been a big believer in the importance of gratitude,” he said.

“I have always felt a tremendous sense of gratitude toward the city of Culver City and the Culver City Police Dept. for allowing me to fulfill my childhood dreams.”
