The holiday season is about to become official on Friday evening for a notable segment of the community.

Black Belt students of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Dept. Shotokan Karate-Do program — Weihang Zhao, Gregory Gladkov, Amaya Mollner and Andrew Lopez – will perform demonstrations on Friday at a 7 o’clock recital at the Vets Auditorium.

This will follow the traditional Tower Lighting ceremony at 6:30 at the Vets.

Participants from other Parks and Recreation programs will perform at the recital.

The Shotokan Karate-Do Program has been part of the Parks and Recreation catalogue for 30 years.

The complete catalog of programs is available in the Culver City Living brochure on the Culver City website, www.CulverCity.org.

Mr. Heyl, chief instructor of the shotokon karate-do program, may be contacted at john_heyl@sbcglobal.net
