Any election race that feisty Albert Robles, mayor of Carson, enters, is bound to be more colorful than Trump vs. Clinton.

Any race that feisty Jim Dear, former mayor of Carson, enters, is bound to be more colorful than Clinton vs. Trump.

Mr. Dear feels about Mr. Robles the way Mrs. Clinton feels about Mr. Trump.

Their showdown on Nov. 8 to be elected the next mayor of Carson may be the only one in the country that drowns out the presidential candidates.

  • Except that Mr. Dear, the most controversial politician in the history of Carson, was recalled by voters last February from his far more lucrative position as the city clerk and succeeded by his predecessor who temporarily had jumped to the City Council,
  • Except that the controversial Mr. Robles is running simultaneously to retain two offices, a seat on the board of the regional Water Replenishment District of Southern California and the mayoralty,
  • Except that the District Attorney’s office says it is illegal for Mr. Robles to jointly hold the two offices, amounting to conflict of interest, and is suing him
  • Except that the D.A.’s office has been talking almost since before Harry Potter was born about suing Mr. Robles and anti-Robles critics wonder what is taking so long,
  • Except that Mr. Robles is suing the Water Replenishment District for not paying his attorney fees in this court fight,
  • Except that Mr. Robles has been accused of not living in whatever neighborhood a man is supposed to reside in when he allegedly breaks the law by holding two positions with competing interests,
  • Except that Mr. Robles had been accused of being overly affectionate with a woman not his wife…

Hardly anything is newsworthy about the chase to determine which worthy gentleman will lead the city of Carson for the next four years.
