On Saturday, hundreds of people associated with the non-profit Sharefest will descend upon El Rincon Elementary.

They will repaint buildings, restripe the playground athletic facilities, clear up overgrown landscape areas, mulch planters, reseed lawn areas, revitalize the entry planter, paint various projects on the playground and on the campus and perform general cleanup as requested by the school staff.

The work will be accomplished via the labor provided by supportive subcontractors, Balfour Beatty employees, School District consultants, students from Culver City High School, District staff and concerned parents.

“This is an incredible example of Success for All, Takes Us All,” said Supt. David LaRose, entering the final full month of his tenure.

“Partners like Balfour-Beatty are truly are part of the Culver City family. We are grateful for their leadership in making this makeover event possible!”

Balfour Beatty Construction, the District’s construction management firm overseeing the Measure CC bond projects, spearheaded the effort for the Sharefest Work Day, which will be happening at schools in the Redondo Beach, Torrance and Wiseburn school districts, too.

“The Sharefest Workday provides us with the opportunity to inspire, to connect, and to brighten the future of kids and communities,” said Balfour Beatty Vice President Gil Fullen.

The El Rincon project is part of an annual event organized by Sharefest.

“Every year, we are amazed by the powerful stories that happen when businesses, nonprofits, churches, and individuals come together,” osaid Chad Mayer, Sharefest Executive Director. “The transformations create a renewed sense of pride.”

Sharefest focuses on mentoring youth to develop the leaders of tomorrow, fostering volunteerism.

Since 2003, Sharefest has mobilized 50,000 volunteers to complete nearly 2,500 Workday projects, saving cities and schools throughout the Los

Angeles area $10 million. See last year’s Workday at https://youtu.be/0pUQjWGBA0k.
