Lin Howe’s wall of many colors is refreshed.

On Sony Global Volunteer Day this month, 100 Sony Pictures Entertainment volunteers
took their shovels, paint brushes and elbow grease to Lin Howe Elementary to complete several projects:

Painting seven new murals, improving the school’s butterfly garden and constructing new benches and picnic tables.

“By working together and in collaboration with our partners, City Year Los Angeles and TreePeople, we were able to transform the school in a matter of hours,” said Sony Volunteer Program coordinator Lani Monos.

“We hope the students will continue to enjoy these spaces for years.”

Sony’s legacy of volunteerism with the School District dates back 25 years.

“We began our volunteer involvement in 1991 when Sony employees organized a project at Farragut Elementary to mark our relocation to this area,” said Janice Pober, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Social Responsibility, for Sony.

Geoffrey Coatar, Sony Pictures Employee and Sony Global Volunteer Day Team Leader, said the project “was a physical labor of love as we built, sanded, stained and painted.

“I felt uplifted when a teacher and her students came out of the classroom to personally thank us. It was a stupendous day of service.”

Lin Howe principal Dr. Kim Indelicato, said the Sony volunteers “transformed the look of our campus. They beautified and improved the school for students, for teachers and for parents.”
