We are just hours away from my 100th Day on the Los Angeles City Council Community Celebration!

Doors open to the community event at Crenshaw High School tomorrow at 11a.m. sharp. We will have food vendors, entertainment, a resource fair and tons of fun activities in our kid zone. It’s not too late to join the festivities. RSVP today to confirm your spot.

We have an exciting line up with local entertainers representing every section of the community. We’ll have a mariachi band, praise dancers, Aztec dancers and even an Afro-Cuban jazz and salsa band. Compton-born singer El Compa Negro (@ElcampaNegro27), who has been dubbed “the first African-American in Mexican music,” will be gracing our stage along with 10-year-old singer Alexis (Shafira) Cunningham (@ALEXISSHAFIRA), and MC and singer CoCo Short (@COCOSHORT1). DJ Joaquin Romero (@JromeroCruz) will be spinning tunes to keep the fun going all day long. The program starts at 12 noon and will be kicked off by KJLH Frontpage host Dominique Diprima (@kjlhfrontpage).

We are also empowering the community with information about free services at our resource fair. Meet with City of L.A. departments, sign up for city jobs with the Personnel Dept. — and most importantly–find out how you can get involved in your community! There will be dozens of local organizations where you can learn about Prop. 47 work, health care and immigration services, and more. Remember, we can build the kind of community we want to see.
