Did I Tell Me?

Making a List and Checking It

What? A list? Lists are great.  I use them all the time. It’s just that I get involved in other things, lose the lists and, to be sure, I hate being told what to do by them.

I don’t mind telling myself what to do. But the list is impertinent. It just stares at me, tapping its foot, waiting for me to cross out each item.  Maybe it reminds me of someone I live with. Forget that.

So, "Robert," I ask gently, "What do you think we (Robert and I) should do now — in between hobbies?" Okay. I’ll get that thing done. Then back to the hobby.

Do I worry about talking to myself? Not if no one can hear me or knows about it.

OOPS.

"Robert, did I tell you that you shouldn’t have written about this topic?"
