Do You Have a License?

Dateline Dayton – For more than a month, much of my free time has been spent helping put together my daughter’s condo.

Before she moved here from Michigan, there were things to get done. Next was the actual move followed by all the little things she wanted done.

My major remaining task I have left, is the black-splash in the kitchen.  Our schedule for May is full, and we will be moving Darlene’s daughter Heather here next week.  For the time being she will live with her parents, but she will be looking for a place of her own, once she has a job.

Russia-n to Judgment

Today I must get back on my soap box.

Trump and the Russians.  Again I will tell you, no Russian influenced my vote.

I never was contacted by a Russian.  If anyone is going to let any country, organization, or even political party influence his vote, I don’t believe he should be voting.

You must vote for the person you feel is best qualified and shares your ideals.

You should not let anyone influence your decision.

Can’t we just put this issue to rest, along with the Clinton emails?  What difference does any of this make at this point?

Do You Have a License?

Children are having a rough time and need help.  I don’t know when this country is going to wake up and do something to stop child abuse in any form.

Almost daily you hear about an infant or small child, even older children, being killed and abused.

This is not a perfect answer.

But you’re going to have to convince me that licensing prospective parents wouldn’t be a good first step.  No, I don’t mean a person walks into an office, plops down a sum of money and is now qualified to have or care for children.

Just like getting your license to drive, there will be study, demonstrations and testing.  This should be required of anyone taking care of a child, not just the birth mother, as many children are harmed by boyfriends, grandparents and other relatives.

How about the one year old, here in the Dayton area, who was taken to the hospital with a drug overdose.

Drug testing would be another requirement to get a license. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to require it for a driver’s license.  Maybe we could get some of the impaired drivers off the streets.

Last Stop

Now to dogs, the four-legged ones.  For the second time in a short period, a person has been mauled to death by a dog in Dayton.  Pit bulls may get a bad rap, but these dogs have been bred to fight. I don’t believe they should be allowed as pet.

Now I know that will get many pit bull owners upset with me, but people are killed by pit bulls.  In both cases the owners of these dogs had been cited on previous occasions, but no action was taken.

I have an answer.  Charge pit bull owners a much higher licensing fee and have the dog wear a monitor.

Wait a minute. We license our dogs, our cars and we must have a driver’s license and get a marriage license, but we don’t need a license to have and raise children.  Something is wrong.
