Re: “Farragut Parking Ban: Greenberg Files Complaint”

It was really no surprise that Les Greenberg’s lawsuit against the City Council of Culver City for violating the Brown Act, was thrown out of court last Tuesday.

It had no basis in fact or in law.

Les, and the band of Farragutites he represents on Farragut Drive certainly have the right to appeal.

But that would be an expensive proposition for them as well as for the city.

Les has said many times that a parking study on Farragut Drive would be an unneeded expense to the city.

At the same time, though, he has no problem filing a frivolous lawsuit to delay the inevitable study that would show, once and for all, whether their quality of life actually is impacted by Grace Lutheran Church and a few small businesses on Overland Avenue.

Defending this lawsuit probably cost the city more than the parking study will.

It is possible, of course, to settle this issue without having to have the parking study.

If the residents of 10700 Farragut Dr. would accept the city’s new standard residential permit parking standard of a maximum of  two hours parking for non-permit holders, Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.,  with no further restrictions, other than street sweeping, this matter could be put to rest forever.
