Mac Breaks, 3-D Improves

On Tuesday evening I tried to restart my never-has-failed seven-year-old iMac.  All went well until it asked for my password.  I tried to type it in, but no letters appeared.  I Googled possible solutions for an hour, and tried them all, but to no avail.  It was time to take my baby to the Genius Bar.

Imagine the curiosity of all those people who saw me walking through the Mall yesterday with my 24-inch iMac, bundled up in a mattress pad, and set atop a baby stroller.

Unbelievable, but less than one-half hour after my appointment, I was out of there with a revitalized iMac.  Adam, my Genius, wiped my OS System clean, and installed a new system.  I was so happy to be able to write in my password once again.  The problem, Adam said, was a glitch in my OS System.  Unbelievable again, the work was done for no charge.  I love Apple.  At home, I re-installed my apps and programs in under four hours.

So many things have come together recently to help me enjoy my latest Virtual Reality (VR) 3-D movie-watching hobby:

My Mac computer was cleaned out.  Sort of like having a digital enema, I suppose.  It now appears healthier than ever.

My cable company (Time Warner) recently switched to Spectrum.  They upgraded my computer’s speed from 50 to 100 Mps for no extra charge.  I think this has improved the smoothness of my movie recordings.

I was able to purchase a flash drive for my iPhone, which can import large, 12GB movie files, which allow me to lie in bed watching a 3-D movie on my iPhone, in my VR headset.

The 3-DinTV website offers streaming 3-D movie rentals for $5 each.

My QuickTime Recorder, with Soundflower for Audio input (so I don’t have to use my built-in microphone), let’s me capture beautiful movie images and sound.

Now I will make a sign displaying a pre-recording check-list for copying my 3D movies:

  • CLOSE ALL APPS IN THE DOCK,
  • PUT iPHONE ON SILENT,
  • TURN OFF GMAIL NOTIFICATIONS,
  • CHANGE SYSTEM SETTINGS ENERGY SAVER TO NEVER ALLOW THE COMPUTER OR DISPLAY TO SLEEP.

Happy December to all!
