Dateline Dayton — Will the stupidity ever stop? Start with the worst – a mother, using the term loosely, broke her infant’s skull and inflicted other injuries. Just another example of why I keep writing about the need for licensing in order to have children. Some persons are not prepared to raise a child. From experience, raising a child is a task. Enjoy them while they (and you) are young. It only gets more difficult.

A good example of “difficult as they age” and a dash of stupidity:

Two 16-year-olds and a boy 14 stole a car in Dayton and drove it toward Cincinnati. Police spotted the car on I-75 as it was headed back to Dayton. They gave chase, reaching speeds of 120 mph. When the kids finally crashed the car in Dayton, the police found them drunk with enough liquor to open a store.

For most in the area, school has started. Why were these kids out late on a school night? They must have robbed a liquor store. Better question: Where were their parents? Hopefully a judge will throw a thick book at them.

Going Swimmingly?

As for Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and his three pals who committed shenanigans:

First, medals won should be returned.

All four should be banned from all future competitions.

Third, all four should issue a formal apology to Brazil, the Olympic organization and their fellow athletes.

Lochte said it was immature actions on his part. Give me a break. He is 32.

His actions were beyond immature. They were ignorant.

Don’t athletes believe in training anymore? Or is drinking part of training?

Majoring in Dumb

Speaking of stupid, how about the six Notre Dame football players who behaved dreadfully. One beat up a police officer as he came out of a bar. Five were arrested in a car with drugs and an unlicensed gun. One has been suspended from the team. Another may be.

Wrong. All should be not only thrown off the team but expelled from the school. Are drugs and drinking part of new training programs?

After Notre Dame allowed President Obama to speak at the university, I lost respect for the school. It isn’t the Notre Dame it once was.

These six players will be perfect candidates for the NFL. The only training they will need is how to beat up their wife/girlfriend and deflate footballs.

Professional football is trying to clean up. The best they could do: Do not draft any of the Notre Dane Six,

Back to Baseball

Last Thursday night, Pauline and I were at the Dayton Dragons game, and we stuck it out to the end.

No 3 son Jon took me to last Monday’s Dragons game. Best game of the season. They eliminated a large deficit to win. Weather was just perfect.

I took my son-in-law to our final game last night.
