Dateline Dayton — My blood pressure goes up every time I think about those professional football players who do not stand for the National Anthem.

The Anthem is not white or black. Nor is it about police or fire personnel. It’s definitely not about Democrats or Republicans.
It is about our country. All of us should be proud to be Americans, even with our faults.
No matter who is our president, no matter what party is in control, we survive. We try to work though our faults.

Sometimes we do a good job. Sometimes not. Americans. If we’re not happy, there are plenty of other countries where we can go and live.

Some countries will not tolerate the kind of disrespect these players are showing. Nor will they earn the kind of money they are. The NFL shouldn’t their behavior either!
It would be great if we boycott the National Football League until they require the players to respect the Anthem.

I know that will not happen, but we could start writing letters to the commissioner, suggesting he gets the players to respect our countries flag and its Anthem. Sure would be nice to see the players union requiring their members to stand and respect the Anthem.

I need to give you my two cents worth on Ryan Lochte and Dancing with the Stars.

First, I did not see the show. I don’t watch it on a regular basis. My interest in the show is what the gals are wearing, or should I say, how much they don’t have on.

The producers had to know, that the disgrace to America, Ryan Lochte, would be controversial. I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire incident wasn’t staged to get more publicity for the show. It’s working. Even I am writing about it!
I believe that in giving opportunities and money to the likes of Ryan Lochte, is a slap in the face to the good law-abiding people of America.

Many great athletes at the Rio Olympics, could have appeared as contestants on the show and look who they picked. Does it say something about the quality of the show or is it about ratings?

Child Abuse. Again

To read or hear about a child being injured or killed by a parent or guardian isn’t an occasional event.

Almost a daily occurrence.

Add to this a child being left in a hot car and it might now be a daily event. We must do something to stop this tragedy.

I’m still proposing that we need licensing to have and care for children.

Our present child care program is not working. Will we just accept this loss of children as a fact of life, or will we step forward and do something to change the situation?
