The Culver City Sister City Committee this week welcomed Japanese marathon runners Mr. Shogo Uraguchi, 26 years old and Ms. Chiaki Kishimoto 33 years old, from  our sister city in Kaizuka .

They were greeted by Marathon Chair Tim Petersen and his wife Sandra, David Winslow and Jennifer Hartman who returned from Japan a few weeks ago after running the Senshu marathon in Kaizuka. Our translator Ryoko also was present.

We have many activities planned.

This evening at 6:30, Mike Cohen will host a Welcome Dinner at his home, 4378 Jasmine Ave., Culver City  90230.  This event is open to the public and Sister City members.  This is a potluck event. If you would like to attend, RSVP to Activities Chair Colleen Jones at colleendowejones@gmail.com

Sunday, after the L.A. Marathon, which runs from 9 to noon,  finishing on Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica, you may attend the 12:30 luncheon at Marisol Restaurant. RSVP promptly to Tim Petersen at tim.tpastudio@gmail.com if you plan to be there.  There are no reservations, but we send someone early on race day to wait and get on list.

Breakfast on Saturday will be from 9 to 11 at Sonia Karroum’s, 4165 Marcasel Ave., L.A. 90066, 310.391.2929.   RSVP to me at sonyatra@aol.com.  The breakfast is open to families hosting the runners, former runners, board members and City Council members. It is a wonderful catered brunch and it’s always fun.

We are also meeting on Monday at Kay and Dave’s Culver City restaurant at 7:30. This will be after the City Council meeting where  the runners will be recognized.  All are welcome to attend the first part of the Council meeting and join us at Kay and Dave’s. RSVP to Tim Peterson, tim.tpastudio@gmail.com
