When Spouse Dies but Love Does Not

The feeling was as mellifluously arresting as a second morning sunrise.

I couldn’t stop glowing — with envy — this morning at breakfast. I drank in a magnificent tribute from the widow of former KFI newsman Jay Lawrence.

Richard Wagoner, who writes a splendid weekly radio column for the Daily Breeze, reported that after Mr. Lawrence died recently of a heart attack at age 69 following a golf match, his wife Reni delivered this eloquent gem:

Our life was magical. We shared the love of golf, made some extraordinary friendships. We were best of friends to each other, and we truly loved each other. I will miss him deeply.”

Reading these diamonds felt like wrapping a scarlet ribbon around your heart and tugging until you cried.

When Diane died, I dropped to the floor beside her bed and wept, incapable of articulating how much she meant to me.
