At 3-1 with Buffalo coming up Sunday, the Rams are off to their best start in 10 years.

The Rams play the 2-2 Bills at 1:25 Sunday a week after Buffalo pulled a 16-0 upset of New England.

In first place in the Western Division of the NFC, the Rams are winning with different combinations every week. The offense, defense, the special teams are coming up with timely plays. When that happens, everyone is happy.

“It’s important to be happy and have fun,” said linebacker Alex Ogletree.

“But we have to toe the line between having too much fun and being professionals.

“When we come to work, the coaches make sure we stay focused.”
Ogletree realizes hard work is what separates the good players from the great ones. “I tell the guys you never know when this is going to end.

“Enjoy yourself while you are here.

“I want to put myself in position to be one of the greatest players ever. It’s about putting in the work, going after what you believe in, doing what you have to do to be the best.”

Tavon Austin is another Ram playing at a high level. He is one of the most exciting players in the NFL. The 5-8, 176-pounder from West Virginia is in his fourth season. Almost every time he touches the ball, something exciting happens.

Last Sunday in the Rams’ 17-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Austin returned a punt 47 yards late in the fourth quarter to help set up the winning touchdown drive. “I am just trying to take advantage of all the opportunities I get,” said Austin. “I used to try to score every time. Now I understand it’s about getting first downs. Touchdowns will come.”

Austin thinks the team is coming together at the right time. “No. 1 is the type of relationships we have on this team. The offense is starting to open up. We are more confident in stretching the ball down the field.”

Getting the ball downfield is quarterback Case Keenum’s job. He completed 18 of 30 passes for two touchdowns and no interceptions against Arizona. Both touchdown passes were caught by 6-3, 218-pound wide receiver Brian Quick.
