The Culver City High School girls track and field team travels to Cerritos College in Norwalk on Saturday for the CIF Division 2 finals. Field events start at 11, and the first race at 12.

The 400 meter relay team of Destinee Augustus, Joylyn Daily, Amber Wacker and Cedrinae Thompson will have to run their best time to qualify for next week’s Masters meet.

Individuals competing on Saturday are Nia Garcia in the 100 meter hurdles, Yasmin Randa Ashley in the high jump and Daily in the 200 meters.  This was the only group that advanced from the CIF preliminaries a week ago at Moorpark High school.

“I am proud of the way Culver City competed against tough opposition,” Coach Jahmal Wright said.  “We faced a lot of challenges this year, but we never stopped competing.”

Volleyball Ends

The Culver City boys volleyball team was eliminated in the second round of the CIF playoffs last week.

They lost to Gahr High school of Cerritos, three sets to one. The Centaurs won their first round game 3-0, against Cate High School of Carpentaria.

Culver City finishes 18-13, with a 5-3 record in the Ocean League.
