Although the Culver City High School football team has performed at a high level this summer in passing league to compete for league and CIF championships in the fall.

“We are looking pretty good,” said Coach Jahmal Wright after the Centaurs beat Brentwood.

“But we still have to get better.”

Coach Wright always is looking for perfection.

“It’s July, so we have time to get to where we want to be in September,” said Wright.

The Centaurs have outstanding skill players but the offensive and defensive lines remain question marks.

“Our lines are a work in progress,” Wright said.

“We have improved from last year because we have more depth.”.

The Centaurs return three out of five starters from the offensive line and two of the three defensive linemen.

“The good news is some of our new varsity lineman are bigger and stronger,” said Wright. “And the veterans are showing great leadership.”
