Culver City High School opens its football season Friday evening at 7 at West Torrance.

Coming off a hard fought scrimmage against Mira Costa last week, All-Ocean league quarterback Jonathan Martin is the leader of the Centaurs.

Martin will be handing the ball off to running backs Brandon Oum and Nick Bradley.

He will pass the ball to Deven Osborne, Charles Ross, Steven Ashy and super sophomore Kevin McGuire.

“We are looking forward to getting the season started,” said Coach Jahmal Wright. “We have a very balanced team and we are looking for big things.”

On defense the Centaurs feature nose tackle Jayden Porter, linebacker Elijah Zavala and defensive backs Mekhi Ware and Justin Cox.

Culver City’s second game will be at Jerry Chabola Stadium against Torrance, on Friday, Sept. 9, at 7.
