Ocean League play starts within days for all of the Culver City High School winter sports teams.

A big question for the Centaurs:

Will the Ocean League l present the same type of challenges the pre-season has?

Several Centaur teams have experienced a tough pre-season.

The girls basketball team has lost six in a row after winning their first six games.  They are 6-6 hoping to regain a winning record on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the Ocean League opener at Lawndale. Next week, the defending CIF and Ocean League champions will play two non-league games.  They will host West Torrance on Wednesday at 6 and they travel to Torrance on Friday at 6.

The 3-4-1 Centaur boys soccer team also started fast before hitting a losing streak, On Monday, they travel to Studio City to take on Harvard Westlake at 5:30. Next day they return home to face Lynwood at 3.

Jan. 14 is the Ocean League opener at Lawndale.

The girls soccer team enters the new year with a 6-2-2 record.  Their next contest will be at home against 6-4-1 Palos Verdes on Wednesday at 3.  Their first league game will be Jan. 14, at home, against Lawndale.

The boys basketball team, at 5-7, will play West Torrance at home on Wednesday at 7:30. Next Friday they travel to Torrance for a 7:30 game.  Ocean League opener will be on Jan. 14 at Lawndale at 7:30.
