Events will include throwing out the ceremonial first pitch by Mayor Vera, announcement of Little League raffle winners, and a special appearance by cast members from the critically acclaimed film Napoleon Dynamite.
Little League Board President George Aceves said that more than five hundred boys and girls, between the ages of five and fourteen, will participate this year.
It is the largest turnout in recent history.
“The efforts of many individuals volunteering their time for the sole purpose of providing our children with the character-building traits found in our national pastime will make this our greatest year,” he said. “Teamwork, good sportsmanship and respect for your opponent are qualities that are best instilled into our kids through Little League baseball. “The parents and the community make it all happen.”
Little League officials said that gratitude should be expressed toward individual and corporate sponsors “whose generosity allows the Culver City National Little League to offer an affordable and enjoyable experience.”
