A housekeeping matter has put the National Guard Armory murder case on hold for a month.

Sgt. Scott Ansman, the defendant, is attempting to permanently hire a Riverside-based law group that only had been retained through his preliminary hearing.

It was explained in Judge James R. Dabney’s courtroom that a delay was necessary while the title of the 35-year-old suspect’s home is transferred.

Ostensibly, the refinancing maneuver would cover two purposes — attorney fees and as a springboard to seeking bail for the military veteran in this no-bail case.

A National Guard veteran and the married father of three small children,  Sgt. Ansman has been in County Jail since last  Aug. 24 when he allegedly killed his  girlfriend, JoAnn Crystal Harris, 29 years old, and their unborn child.

Sgt.  Ansman’s  felony arraignment was re-set for Monday, March 17, at 8:30 a.m.

He is expected to stand trial later in the spring.
