I Get Excited

Robert EbsenOP-ED

Do you get excited when you discover a new way to do something?

I do.

Here are just a few examples.

I got excited when I realized I could press CTRL+C, and CTRL+V, to cut and paste on the computer.  There are probably scores of other new things I discovered I could do on the computer — mostly with the help of Google.

I got excited when I discovered that if I put a bright red cord on my reading glasses, I could find the glasses much more easily than before.

I got excited when I discovered I could use my out-of-ink pen to mark “invisible” lines on cardstock, to enable me to easily fold my pop-ups.

I got excited when I discovered I could use double-sided tape instead of a glue gun to stick down my pop-ups.  You guessed it — I love making pop-ups.

I got excited when I discovered and used the apple corer. Not only does it remove the seeds, and produce eight equal and lovely apple slices, but it also is a lot of fun to use.

I got excited when I discovered and used the nasal irrigation spray. I can now breathe easily at bedtime without the “rebound effect.”

I got excited when I discovered that if I brought a very large tumbler full of juice to the computer room, instead of a paper cupful, I wouldn't have to run to the kitchen so often. DUH!  By the way, all of these “discoveries” are DUH events, some bigger DUHs than others.

I got excited when I discovered that if I wrote our cars' mileage and oil change dates on the garage wall, and taped the end flaps of the oil filter boxes to the garage wall, that I'd have an easy time knowing when to change my oil and which filter to use.

I got excited when I discovered that if I bought 3 ten-dollar regular telephones, and placed them in the kitchen, bedroom, and computer room, I didn't have to run all over the house when the cordless phones in those rooms wasn't in those rooms.

I got excited when I got my first email at robertebsen.com.  If you email me there I'll get excited again.  I'll also email you back.
