Special Invitation to Greenbergs and Their Neighbors. Y’all Come

Letters to the EditorLetters

I feel I owe Les and Paulette Greenberg an apology. About 5 o’clock Monday evening, as I was delivering meals to two of our guests who are unable to get up the stairs to Parish Hall we use for Grace Diner, I saw the Greenbergs taking an early evening stroll on Overland Avenue. in front of Grace Lutheran Church.

By the time I gave the gentlemen their dinners, drinks and silverware, the Greenbergs had turned the corner at Farragut. They were out of sight.

I really wish I had had the chance to invite them upstairs to see Grace Diner and how it operates. They could have even stayed for a free meal if they were hungry.

I would have introduced them to all of the volunteers, some of whom parked several blocks away.

Or, if they had wanted to, they could have helped by greeting diners as they came upstairs, waited or cleared tables, filled coffee cups or washed some dishes.

There is always plenty to do at Grace Diner.

Since I didn't have the chance to do that, I would like all of the residents on Farragut Drive to know that you have an open invitation to volunteer or dine at Grace Diner every Monday night.

The volunteers start setting up about 3 o’clock, and the last dishwasher leaves about 7:30. Dinner is served between 4:30 and 6.

The best part about it for the residents of the 10700 block of Farragut Drive is they won't have to worry about getting a parking ticket while they are there!
