Ode to Costco #1

Robert EbsenOP-ED

A monthly – after payday – trip to Costco has many joys and benefits. Here are just a few of them.

Pour it. Pour it. Pour it.

The very large sizes of things at Costco make it FUN to refill smaller containers at home. And you don’t have to run out to the store for more – and expensive – smaller containers when those are empty.

It’s fun to pour the liquid hand soap from the very large container into the 5 small liquid soap pumps around the house, AND the liquid floor cleaner from the very large bottle into the smaller spray bottles, AND the vitamins from the very large containers into the smaller vitamin bottles that fit on the lazy susan in the pantry cabinet.

Freeze it. Freeze it. Freeze it.

The bigger the food packages the better. There will be more leftovers to freeze. With the help of freezer bags and a sharp knife, I store my extra fish, chicken, veggies, etc.

Finding food for daily meals is a no-brainer – as long as I remember to defrost those packages from my freezer.

Discover. Discover. Discover.

While wheeling around the aisles with my cart, I enjoy looking for new products. One new product each month is FUN. What will I try this month? A new cereal? A new rice cooker? – it has a separate switch for brown rice! A new pair of jeans?
