Reminders

Robert EbsenOP-ED

This journal can help me – it serves as a reminder.

I know that I must get to the gym – I need to move my body in the water and, for the sake of my osteoporosis, with the weights.

I will now leave for the gym, and when I return I will tell you how good I feel.

I’m back. And I do feel much better. There.

Writing this weekly essay/journal/blog has been like Dr. Oz for my system. Both Oz and my essay are reminders of what’s important to me – for my physical and mental health.

If you are reading this, perhaps you, too, realize you need reminders. Not just for swimming or pushing the weights, but for dozens of other things that are important to you.

How do I spell reminders? Like this:

Writing notes to myself – on yellow stickies, on electronic multi-colored stickies on my iMac, on papers taped to my wallet and on the ubiquitous calendar near my computer

Setting electronic timers that ding, buzz and whimper until I notice them

Calling the home phone with a message – that I hope someone will hear later

Before I close, I want to remind all of you to remember to eat your fiber each day.

Gotcha!

How many of you just said to yourself – “This guy’s nuts. I’m not going to remind myself of any such thing”?

You can blame me for that reminder at robertebsenhotmail.com
