Tea Partiers Too Much Like Republicans

Mike HennesseyOP-ED

The Super Bowl game is over, and although I would have liked to see the Colts win because they are our neighbors to the West. But I am happy for the Saints, too.

New Orleans needs positive reinforcement after all the city has been through since Hurricane Katrina. the last few years.

This year, not only will they have the Mardi Gras, they can celebrate being the Super Bowl Champions.

I’m not much of a sports fan. However, I did watch most of the game because I enjoy the commercials.

I did not find them that impressive last Sunday, with the exception of the promotion for David Letterman. That was great! Dorito’s had a few good ones and some bad, such as the dog collar. Possibly I don’t have the right sense of humor.

Budwiser also had some good moments, but nothing like in the past.

Some commercials I just didn’t understand. I didn’t relate. Could be my age. Oh, well.

It’s almost time for March Madness!

Over Super Bowl weekend, the Tea Party was holding a gathering in Nashville. Sarah Palin was a guest speaker, which I don’t completely understand. I believe the Tea Partiers are aligning themselves too much with the Republican Party.

Maybe they wanted a fresh face. I feel the Tea Party should be supporting the GOOOH movement. We need to replace most, if not all, of our Congressmen and women. Largely, they have lost touch with the people they represent.

Big government has got to go.

Government needs to get out of all the businesses they are trying to control or take over.

Our government needs to limit spending, reduce the debt and we need, once again, to take control of our country.

The folks in Washington are there to represent us, not the lobbyists who shell out the big bucks to influence them to vote against what the majority of us might want.

If the Tea Party aligns itself with either party, they could lose the support of many.

I am not a political expert. Here in the Dayton suburb of Kettering, the Tea Party movement turned me off by their support of a candidate for City Council whom I believe overstepped his bounds during the campaign. He did get elected, due to a lot of hard work on his part. Maybe he will be a good addition to a Council that needs to be inspired.
