These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Robert EbsenOP-ED

Have you ever decided, “This is one of my very favorite things ever”?

If you have, that thing likely was something you would have liked all of your best friends to know about. It was likely something you were so very happy it was invented.

Okay.

In no particular order — the first of my favorite things is:

The Nicer Dicer

It's a kitchen device that lets me easily dice almost everything — into “bigger” or “smaller” pieces. It is so great because:

(1) I like to make egg rolls, and the smaller the diced pieces of onion, avocado, bean sprouts, chicken, celery, water chestnut, etc., the more I can stuff into my egg rolls.

(2) I like to make salads. Sometimes I'm in the mood to eat smaller chunks of apple, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, etc., and sometimes I'm in the mood to eat larger chunks.

(3) I like to clamp down hard on whatever I'm dicing. It feels good. I don't know why. Warning: don't touch the dicer's blades when cleaning the device. They are sharp. Use a sponge or brush to clean off the blades.

The second of my favorite things is:

The cordless phone locator beeper

Yes. I know that we all have one, or more, of these. But, you have to admit, what would you do without it? Would you ever find that telephone?

I've tried various beepers systems to attach to keys, purses, etc., but they worked for a while and then — silence.

So why can't they make a tiny, fool-proof beeper that we can attach to things that are AS dependable as the thing-a-ma-jig the telephone uses???

I'd like to know about your very favorite things. Thanks!
