These are a Few of My Favorite Things – Part II

Robert EbsenOP-ED

Here are three more of my favorite things:

My $99  swimming pool

What do sharks and I have in common?  We can swim in rather small circles.

And that's how I get quite a bit of my exercise.

With a used gas pool heater, to heat the pool on Fridays in the winter, I can swim on weekends throughout the year (yeah for California weather!).

With an inflatable ring around the periphery of the 15-foot diameter pool, I can “slam” against the sides while swimming with impunity.  For extra exercise, I move hand weights back and forth under the water and, as if in a rowboat, I am gently propelled around the pool.

Olive Oil

What do Popeye and I have in common?  We both “caress” Olive Oil to keep us attractive and healthy.

After rubbing olive oil into the foods that I cook, I figure, “Why waste the precious stuff?”  Instead of wiping it off on a towel, I wipe it all over my hands, arms, face and neck.

Dr. Oz and others have touted the medicinal benefits of olive oil.  Some of the longest-lived humans swear by it. Yes, I DO take a shower at night, and the olive oil is removed — for a time.

Kneeling Pad

What do uncles and kneeling pads have in common?  They protect our NIECE [also pronounced “knees”].

Getting on the floor — at my age — to put a USB cable behind the computer tower, to plant potted flowers, to scrub a stain on the kitchen floor, would cause my knees much pain if it were not for this wonderful invention.  How do I know?  My knees have memories.

So, have I thought about surfing on my kneeling pad in a pool of olive oil?

YES.  But I'm not THAT crazy!!
