Culver City has been taking mitigation efforts in preparation for the winter season.  There is a greater than 95 percent chance of a strong El Niño hitting the community.

In case of emergency, it is imperative that residents know how and where to receive public safety updates – from the city, the Police Dept., the Fire Dept.

For an emergency, the city has the following systems in place to relay important information to the community:

  1. Nixle, a mass emergency notification system, To sign up, see www.nixle.com; This system is used by the city — Police, Fire and Public Works — to notify residents and businesses of emergencies and provide information such as for evacuations. It has the ability to notify via phone, text and email.
  2. City website, www.culvercity.org. Add to your Favorites to bookmark the page.
  3.  Additionally, the city provides the option to sign up for live updates. Go to https://service.govdelivery.com/accounts/CACULVER/subscriber/new and add your email.
  4. Police Dept. website, www.culvercitypd.org. Add to your Favorites to bookmark the page.
  5.  Facebook.  We have three accounts: www.facebook.com/cityofculvercity, www.facebook.com/CulverCityFD, and www.facebook.com/culvercitypolicedepartment. Like all three pages.
  6. Twitter. We have three accounts: https://twitter.com/culvercitygov, https://twitter.com/CCFireDept, and https://twitter.com/culver_cityPD. Follow us.
  7. Smart 911, www.smart911.com. Sign up to create a Safety Profile of your household that will be available to emergency responders.
  8.  Radio station 1690 AM. Pre-set the station on your radios.
