Mr. Paul Condran

Fifth in a series.

Re: “A Condran Motto: Little Things Mean a Lot”

After recounting what he and his Transportation Dept. staff have done over the past decade to keep Culver City’s fleet rated among the nation’s superior teams, Fleet Services Manager Paul Condran took a figurative step back.

“Understand, we are not perfect,” he said, even if Culver City’s national award-winning transportation fleet is within walking distance.

And then the consistently successful coach disclosed his tightly condensed, and so far foolproof, formula for remaining on top nationally:

“We make mistakes. But we recover. We move on, and we learn from them do do things better.”

Readdressing the inquiry of how much of the fleet’s consistent triumphs are psychological and how much technological, Mr. Condran turned to the second half.

“For the technological part, as you know, we were pioneers in using compressed national gas in our vehicles.

“We continue to do that. We continue to look at new technological advances in the industry.

“Technological advancements and changes in the automotive industry are moving at lightning speed. And that is going to continue.

“This is a subject that we talk about, too,” Mr. Condran said. “We recently introduced battery of electrical vehicles into the fleet. We have quite a number of battery electric hybrid vehicles.”

You cannot rest once you have reached the top – Mr. Condran’s philosophy.

“We will continue to explore the technologies that make the most economic and operational sense for the city,” he said.
