Dateline Dayton — I wish we could go a week, even a day, without any news about what President Trump is doing, not doing, might be doing, or what the media thinks he is doing.

Almost every morning, when I read the local (Democrat) newspaper, there is an article, on every page, about Mr. Trump. Nearly always, it’s not good in the newspaper’s opinion.

We finally have someone in the White House who wasn’t a politician. Yes, he will make mistakes. Politician make lots of errors, probably even more than the weatherman or weatherwoman. And they have computers to help them.

As you might remember, I did not vote for Mr. Trump or Hillary Clinton. So I don’t need to defend him. However, the office of President deserves respect, which Mr. Trump is not getting.

We must keep in mind that Mr. Trump was elected, probably due to the many promises he made. Most politician don’t care if they keep any of their promises, especially the ones to the folks in their district. They should remember not everyone is a Republican or Democrat.

Most politicians are representing themselves. They make certain they retain their seats on the gravy train. Next, they cause as many problems as they can for the other party. And in most cases their constituents, too.

Shall We Get Together?

We must have unity before countries ever will get along with each other.

Constant demonstrations are not a way to get along. Nor does it accomplish much — except waste time and money that could be used to help solve the problem.

What we, and our politicians, should do first, is get along with each other and work to change what they perceive as the problem. There will be differences, but there has to be common ground. It will not be perfect for everyone, but it must serve the majority.

Being a Sport

Tuesday night Pauline and I went to a University of Dayton basketball game, our first in many years. Near-sellout crowds are not uncommon. In addition to all the people, traffic is terrific. We were given the tickets. Although the seats were good, there was little room. The couple next to us would not get up when people arrived, so they would literally need to climb over them – how selfish. I understand this is their common practice. What a shame.

It was a great game, but personally I will take my Dayton Dragons baseball any day. Fewer people, less traffic, more room and friendlier people. Sorry U.D.
