After a campaign season full of forums, interviews and door knocking, the City Council campaign of Daniel Lee has secured some heavy hitting endorsements.

Early on, Mr. Lee won the endorsement of the Culver City Democratic Club and the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.

Later he added the endorsement of the Sierra Club and the Culver City Community Coalition. Now, the campaign can count the endorsements of Culver City’s federal and state representatives, U.S. Rep. Karen Bass (D-Culver City) and state Sen. Holly Mitchell (D-Culver City).

Mr. Lee also is endorsed by Los Angeles City Council member Paul Koretz and former Santa Monica Mayor Mike Feinstein.

With the support and endorsement of other well-known Culver City current and former elected officials, such as School Board member Kelly Kent, former School Board member Nancy Goldberg, a litany of former Culver City elected officials and current commissioners Mr. Lee appears poised for victory.

If the large crowds at his events and the first-place finish in the Ask 2 Know straw poll are an indication, this is true.

Here is one factor that distinguishes Mr. Lee from the other candidates who have been endorsed by Rep. Bass and Sen. Mitchell:

Both elected officials donated to Mr. Lee’s campaign as well.

The Lee campaign will hold its final fundraiser on Saturday evening from 7 to 9 at the Whole 9 Art Gallery in downtown Culver City.

The night promises to be full of art, food, drink and surprises. The evening will be capped off by the auctioning of a signed print by Los Angeles artist Shepard Fairy who gained worldwide acclaim for creating the iconic “Hope” poster for the Obama campaign in 2008.

Tickets are $50 and include food and drink.

Student tickets are available for $25, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Twenty percent of all gallery purchases will be donated to the Lee campaign.
