Krista Hernandez, a member of the Culver City High School girls varsity volleyball team, helped her club team win the seventh annual Summer Soiree championship in Anaheim last Monday.

The Southern California Volleyball Assn. team won the four-day tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center in the 16 and under division.

Hernandez next will be playing in the USA Championships in Des Moines, or she will be taking a trip to the USA Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colorado this summer.

After Hernandez attended a nationwide tryout she was selected as an alternate. If activated, she will compete against regional teams as well as international teams this month.

Krista’s sister, Alyssa. was on the 14- under team that took fifth place in the same tournament. Alyssa, who graduated from the Culver City Middle School last month, will join her sister in the fall in the Culver High volleyball program.
