Iowa, Stanford Head for Lawry’s Beef Bowl

It must be college football bowl season because the hugely popular Beef Bowl evenings for the Rose Bowl opponents are only days away.

In the 40 bowl games that will be played this month and in early January, each one offers a unique attraction intended to make that bowl game and experience memorable for a lifetime.

However, the pre-game gold standard is the Beef Bowl at Lawry’s the Prime Rib, on the famed Restaurant Row, La Cienega Boulevard, Beverly Hills.

The 60th Beef Bowl rivals Disneyland as enduring highlight of the entire Rose Bowl experience.

On Friday, Jan. 1 (ESPN, 2 o’clock), 12-1 Iowa will play 11-2 Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Iowa team that has not played in the Rose Bowl since 1990. Stanford brings in one of the best players in the nation, Heisman Trophy runnerup Christian McCaffrey.

As for whether the Hawkeyes or the Cardinal can consume more beef, that will be determined this weekend.

Lawry’s will host Iowa in the Beef Bowl on Sunday, and on Monday evening Stanford will sit down to a feast of beef.

The menu consists of the famous spinning bowl salad, roasted prime rib of beef, mashed potatoes, whipped cream horseradish, creamed corn and apple pie for desert.
