Time to Correct the Record on Upward Bound

Letters to the EditorLetters

Regarding the Upward Bound facility at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Beethoven Street in West Culver City,
Upward Bound may indeed have been helping homeless families since 1991, but not in Culver City. (Their main facility is in Santa Monica.)

Special Invitation to Greenbergs and Their Neighbors. Y’all Come

Letters to the EditorLetters

I feel I owe Les and Paulette Greenberg an apology. About 5 o’clock Monday evening, as I was delivering meals to two of our guests who are unable to get up the stairs to Parish Hall we use for Grace Diner, I saw the Greenbergs taking an early evening stroll on Overland Avenue. in front of Grace Lutheran Church.

Finally, I Have Found Common Ground with Mr. Smith

Letters to the EditorLetters

Ken Smith of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and I have reached common ground when he states: “Nothing I nor Les Greenberg says … will have any bearing on [the City Council’s] decision” concerning permit-only parking restrictions on Farragut Drive.

He Claims City Drastically Overpaying for Red Light Cameras

Letters to the EditorLetters

Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers:

Last week I finally received a copy of your new contract with Redflex. It was signed on Aug. 29, more than three months after the May 12 City Council meeting where you approved the continuation of the program.

Greenberg, Reacting to No Response, Again Asks Schwab for Independent Counsel

Letters to the EditorLetters

By Les Greenberg. Dear Ms. Schwab: Having not received any response to my Sept. 29, 2014, letter, I assume that the issues are joined. This letter is written in the hope of causing the City Council to obtain an independent, thorough and unambiguously written legal opinion before it proceeds to “strike the existing parking restrictions” on the 10700 block of Farragut Drive.

Speaking of (Parking) Figments and of Imaginations…

Letters to the EditorLetters

According to Ken Smith’s recent publication, the total impact of the Farragut Drive Parking Restrictions is that “[m]any of the participants [in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church’s programs] have to walk several blocks to the church while Farragut Drive sits empty of cars.” That’s it. Now, let’s examine that statement.

‘Since You Ignored My First Question, I’ll Try Again’

Letters to the EditorLetters

By Ken Smith. Les Greenberg wants me to prove that his overly restrictive parking on Farragut Drive affects our church. In addition, we have daytime activities, such as after-school care, which provides a safe, friendly environment for children to come to and adult meetings of various committees. We also have activities and meetings in the early evening, including a choir that practices at 7:30 every Thursday, etc. Many of these participants have to walk several blocks to the church while Farragut Drive sits empty of cars. That residents of Farragut Drive have a personal parking lot between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, is completely unfair to all the residents of Culver City, except for those on one block of Farragut Drive.

Smith Proves Farragut’s Case, Greenberg Says

Letters to the EditorLetters

By Les Greenberg. I repeatedly ask Ken Smith, a senior official at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, for two simple items of information that he is unable or unwilling to provide …

My Critic Should Have Known – I Don’t Expect an Apology

Letters to the EditorLetters

By Ken Smith. It is my understanding that (Farragut Drive parking advocate) Les Greenberg knew, or should have known, that Grace Diner LLC is a not-for-profit corporation, registered with the Secretary of State and IRS when he wrote his letter accusing me of personally profiting from Grace Diner's activities at Grace Lutheran Church.
