The nightly trivialization of the news by the Boys of Winter, Donny Lemon and Andy Cooper of CNN, would have ended their careers in the 20th century but, unfortunately, not in the 21st.
They drill into the Trump presidency with the enthusiasm of a barber shaving the unvarnished pate of a bald man every day for two hours.
Their patent leather prancing over President Trump and all in his party is visceral, which hardly makes them unique during the Trump Era. Owning stunted imaginations, Donny and Andy repeat the identical script nightly.
Savagely, maniacally, glasses on, glasses off, they trip Mr. Trump to the ground. Then they pummel their varnished fists into the President as if they were roadside thugs.
Their shows are like having the same word-for-word conversation at the dinner table every evening. Or attending the same KKK meeting daily.
The immaturity, insecurity, sizzling anger and startling absence of professional discipline that Cooper and Lemon flamingly flaunt each evening would have cost them their jobs in a circus, much less media, in the last century.
They would have been laughed offstage before their makeup had dried.
No self-respecting 20th century journalist would have entered a room where such farcical fellows crawled.
Overt and covert media norms of the last century have been obliterated since and by the onset of the ironfisted Obama administration 8½ grim years ago.
Taking their orders from the White House, racist leftists, a superfluous phrase, ruled that Mr. Obama was not allowed to be criticized.
“Yes, sir,” Lemon and Cooper compliantly replied.
Leftists reversed themselves last November, ruling that President Trump should not be allowed to breathe. Media pigs piled on, as boys and pigs are wont to do.
As my former father-in-law used to say, “Are there no prisons — or mental institutions?”
