The Eternal Election for the City Council resumes at mid-day.

Sure, Election Day started and ended last Tuesday.

But Election Year? Aha.

That is a separate matter.

Even though the winners of the three available Council seats seem safely established – incumbent Meghan Sahli-Wells and newcomers Thomas Small and Goran Eriksson – mail ballots continue to dribble in.

This afternoon at 1, counting of the late-arriving ballots will begin in City Hall Council Chambers, under the watchful eye of City Clerk Martin Cole.

Mr. Cole’s specialists are expected to finish tabulating the ballots on hand no later 3. Still-to-arrive ballots will be counted later.

The public is welcome to witness the counting.

For Mr. Cole and his wry sense of humor, this is his season to shine with the kind of light, running patter that informs and entertains drop-in audiences.

During the regular year of Council meetings, Mr. Cole’s narrowly focused comments are restricted to drought-dry policy interpretations that allow no space for editorializing.
