Since Culver City’s Transportation Dept. fleet vehicles were recognized again last month as one of the Top Four Elite Fleets in the country, Paul Condran patiently has been detailing how City Hall stays atop the nation every year.

After saying that “we will continue to explore the technologies that make the most economic and most operational sense for the city,” the Fleet Services Manager said it is crucial for him to be discerning. The next new design “may not be the great fit and it may not be sustainable.

“But let’s look at this technology,” Mr. Condran said. “For me, it is a challenge because I have to stay current. I have to understand what could be a viable solution for us, keeping in mind the resources and our budget.”

How does he do that?

“One of the ways,” said Mr. Condran, “is that I am president of the Municipal Equipment Maintenance Assn. We have three chapters, one in Columbus, OH, one in Northern California. The main chapter  is in Southern California, and soon we will be opening a new chapter in Marietta, GA.

“As president of the association, our core team talks about not only a great many advances in technology but professionalism and education,” Mr. Condran said.
